About Institute: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) is a prominent technical education institute providing holistic and value based engineering education to the students at an affordable cost. This institute was established in the year 2010 by His Holiness Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Shri Sode Vadiraja Matha Udupi under the auspices of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust®. Seven batches of engineering graduates of this Institute are serving at many reputed organizations and research institutes across the globe. The institute has state-of-the-heart infrastructure and qualified/committed team of faculty/staff members. The institute has an excellent track record in terms of students’ performance and faculty accomplishments.

The college is located in a lush green sprawling campus spread over 70 acres of sylvan land in a picturesque village called Vishwothama Nagar, Bantakal, near the world famous temple town ‘Udupi’. The institute campus is on the Katapady-Belman road, about 6 km off NH 66, and just 12 km away from the Udupi town.

The effort of SMVITM in ensuring the quality engineering education has been validated by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with A-Grade. The institute is on the way to get the accreditation to its engineering programs by National Board of Accreditation. In addition to these, the Institute is organizing value added courses on the latest technology, encourages the participation of students in national level project competitions and Hackathon with all possible support. Experiential learning and peer learning are very much encouraged in the institute so as to facilitate continuous learning.
Research Activities: The Institute is also engaged in Research activities. University approved Research centers are functioning well in all Engineering and Basic Science departments. Good number of publications from faculty members and students in reputed and recognized journals has been a routine practice at the institute.
Campus Placement:
Excellent campus recruitment (more than 75%) is taking place in the institute through the Training and Placement department. The department is also taking care of providing quality training to improve the soft skills, communications skills and enhancement of technical skills with the support of qualified and experienced trainers from various parts of the country.
Apart from the above services to students, the department of Placement and Training also focuses on arranging best internship opportunism, industry interaction, and industrial visits to all the students from time to time. We are very delighted to mention that our proud alumni are serving across the globe in various reputed organizations like TCS, Infosys, Wipro Technologies, Mindtree, Amazon, IBM, Bosch, Volvo and many more. Efforts are being made to place 100% of final year students.

Scholarships: Apart from providing holistic education, the institute is also taking care of financial needs of deprived students by way of scholarships. On an average 60% of the students received at least one scholarship for their education. The institute has fetched scholarships worth Rs. 2.5 Crore and more every year for the underprivileged students. Apart from the above, Institute management has sanctioned scholarships and fee concessions not less than Rs. 40 Lakhs every year in the past five year period.
Central Library with reading halls, book bank facility and multimedia lab:
The central library has over 16,600 volumes of reference/text books with over 3,529 titles. Also the library subscribes 42 national journals, 21 international journals and seven e-journals of high repute in addition to leading dailies and magazines. Reading Hall of over 400 seating capacity, multimedia library and e-learning center providing live transmission of VTU EDUSAT programme are added features. Book Bank facility is also available for the needy students.
Sports facilities:
Institution encourages students to take part in various sports and games activities for physical development. Provisions are made for indoor games like table tennis, carom, chess etc. and outdoor games like cricket, volleyball, athletics etc. Coaching is provided to the selected students to participate in inter-collegiate / inter-university competitions. A sophisticated multi-gym facility is also provided to the students.
State of the art Laboratories: All laboratories and workshops are equipped with the most modern and sophisticated instruments, machineries and equipment, fulfilling the quest for practical knowledge of the students.
Other facilities: College Bus facility to daily commuters, separate hostels for boys and girls with all modern amenities along with nutritious vegetarian food are available. NSS, NCC, Youth Red Cross and Rotaract Club activities are promoted in the college which in turn promotes leadership and citizenship qualities among the students. The Entrepreneurship Development Cell trains the budding entrepreneurs with many programs and helping the desired students to productize/commercialize their creative ideas.
